In 1961, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby developed the Fantastic Four, taking animated comic book adventures to a new level. And in 2005, these phenomenal characters are brought to life with special effects in their own movie.

"The World's Greatest Animated Comic"

In its original stages, the Fantastic Four operated without costumes and was to be called the Fabulous Four. But, after some serious reader and publisher complaints, the animated comic book became known as the Fantastic Four, decked out in their familiar blue uniforms. At times, Kirby's bold artwork even over-shadowed the action packed adventure. Still, for over 100 issues, the animated comic book brought sales to a new level and had the tag "World's Greatest Comic Magazine" affixed to its front cover.

Radiation, Special Effects, & Movie DVD

Today, the movie Fantastic Four can be viewed on DVD. The movie much like the comic features five people being exposed to cosmic radiation in outer space only to discover that they have been endowed with special powers. Reed Richards becomes Mr. Fantastic; Susan Storm turns into the Invisible Woman; Johnny Storm transforms into the Human Torch; and Ben Grimm morphs into the Thing. Along with special effects enhancing the movie, visually exciting scenes show them battling Victor Von Doom, who turns into the evil Doctor Doom from the radiation.

Your Animation Future

The animated comic book gone big screen is another great example of what can be done in the animation industry today. And, there are virtually limitless opportunities for many other animation projects, jobs, and careers on the horizon as well. So, if you enjoy the special effects in movies or animated comics, check out how rewarding an animation career can be. Who knows, someday you just may be the one to help transform a popular animated comic strip into a blockbuster movie too.
