Computer Graphics Organizations can Aid Your Career Development

If you're a student or recent graduate of a computer graphics program, you'll want to learn about organizations that exist to promote artistic and technical aspects of computer graphics. The following graphic design organizations are working to advance the field of computer graphics, providing assistance to those who already have computer graphics careers, experts serving in an educational capacity, or students who are just getting into the field.


The International Association of Computer Graphics (IACG)

The IACG's mission is to support the broadening appeal and acceptance of computer graphics as a form of graphic art. To this end, the IACG organizes and holds exhibitions of digital graphics, provides a network or forum in which computer artists can meet, and is involved in various other activities in support of its mission. To help its artist members advance their careers, the IACG holds exhibition programs featuring member's digital artwork.

The ITT Technical Institutes offer technology-oriented programs at over 75 campuses in over 29 states. Online programs are also available. The Art Institute Online.

The European Association for Computer Graphics (Eurographics)

Eurographics is a Switzerland-based organization that seeks to support its members by advancing areas of computer graphic arts such as multimedia, scientific visualization, and human computer interfaces. It also seeks to maintain collaborative relationships with similar groups in the United States and Japan. Members of Eurographics benefit from access to research and educational materials related to computer graphics in addition to reductions on publications and workshop and conference fees, and various other programs.

ACM SIGGRAPH

Throughout its 30-year history, ACM SIGGRAPH has sought to promote the computer graphics field. From it's beginnings as a small group of computer graphics enthusiasts, it has evolved into an organized association of researchers, artists, developers, filmmakers, and other people with careers in the computer graphics field. ACM SIGGRAPH sponsors an annual conference as well as symposia, grants, computer graphic educational programs, public policy programs, and art shows. ACM SIGGRAPH has chapters in 50 cities around the world.
