If you love to collect animated art but don't quite know where to begin, read on. Without a theme or focus for your collection, you could someday be stuck with a lot of animated art you really regret ever buying. That being said, it is best to avoid the temptation to buy too much too soon. Instead, do your homework first and you'll collect wisely and enjoy your animated art even more as the years pass.


How to Research Animated Art

As an animation collector, it is important to research potential dealers and types of artwork prior to making any significant purchase. You might consider studying animation history, renting cartoon videos, attending screenings of animated films, reading animation magazines, attending gallery exhibits, and even joining an animation group. Once you do, you may find that pieces that originally appealed to you may not be the ones that you actually desire.

Make Informed Animated Art Purchases

It is very important to make informed animated art purchases. Take the time to review relative prices between different dealers. Prices can be found in catalogues, stores, galleries, online, and at auctions. Additionally, ensure that your purchases are guaranteed to be authentic. Imagine the look on your face and the pain in your pocketbook when you find out one of your most prized collections is a forgery.

Once you have information from several different sources, you can discern which dealers and auctions have the widest selections, the highest level of service and authenticity, and the most reasonable prices. Then, remember, the only true reason to collect animated art if for the love of it. With that in mind, your heart can never really make a bad purchase.
